The Challenge:
The Challenge:
This week the designers were challenged to design an adult ensemble (fashionable) based on their favorite children's literature character. Catherine, the Project Selvedge 2012 winner not only inspired this week's challenge with her blog: www.FawnsandFoes.typepad.com but she helped to judge and sponsor the show as well!
The budget for this week's challenge was limited to $35 and $45 for the winner of the LED challenge, Joanna.
The Designers and Their Models
The winner, Jazmine, and her model inspired by Prince Lir from the book The Last Unicorn
Joanna with her model inspired by Mark Twain's characters Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.
Christine and her model inspired by the book The Stinky Cheese Man
Erin with her model from the book Verdi by Janell Cannon
And since there have been three shows where no designers were eliminated...tonight the judges made the decision to cut Christine, and her stinky cheese dress. Thank you for participating Christine!
This week we were assigned Cigarette Girls for a fun and vintage inspired challenge. Taking inspiration from the 50’s, designers were asked to make a garment that embraces the traditional meaning of burlesque. The garment needs to be theatrical and have a sense of humor. Unlike their usual show, this time the Cig girls will be showing for a family friendly crowd. The garments will represent the individual personalities of each Cig Girl. They had their pick of bargain basement cottons totaling 10 yards, which is a lot!
